Safety Considerations

We formulate everything with care, but we also believe in informed, empowered choices. Below are a few safety considerations to keep in mind as you welcome these plant-rich offerings into your routine.

Citrus Oils & Sunlight

Essential oils like lime, orange, and bergamot can increase sun sensitivity when applied topically. We use phototoxic-safe Bergamot FCF and carefully formulated levels of expressed Lime Oil. Still, we recommend being mindful of direct sun exposure after use. Think: wide-brimmed hat energy.

Pregnancy & Nursing

Most essential oils used in our formulas are considered safe during pregnancy when used in low concentrations. That said, every body is different. If you're pregnant or nursing, check in with your trusted care provider before adding new topical herbs or oils to your routine.

Studies on safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding tend to be unethical, so there isn't a lot of data on safety with many plants and herbs.

Essential Oils & Sensitivity

Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts.  We use amounts that are well within the International Fragrance Association's (IFRA) Dermal Limit recommendations, but everyone's skin has its own tolerance.  If you’re new to botanical skincare or have sensitive skin, we suggest patch testing on your inner wrist before applying fully. A little goes a long way.

Shelf Life & Storage

Because our products contain no water, they’re more stable than many conventional creams. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Our products are packaged in Miron violet glass, which helps extend shelf life naturally by filtering out harmful light and preserving the integrity of delicate botanicals. Use within 6–12 months for best results and freshest feel.
